And son   correction
brother Andrew middle name as Gottleib

Baptisms can give extra information .

Are you interested in going back as far as possible or finding what became of the children. Which one are you focussing on ?

I would think the step children did revert to original name but mother may have kept her married name or married legally later .

That's all I can add
Others are better at searching than me but Elizabeth's maiden name may help you search for them

Guiver for ELizabeth is the best clue to looking for the step family

As first wife died 1855 the youngest children might be the best to follow ... were they children of Maria or Elizsbeth

As for next step following Wentzlers  I see you have lots of threads about other family members

It would be great if you could do a summary of ALL findings so far and add links to other threads.
So people who are helping don't look for things that have already been found .

Do you know what foreign parts Gottleib and Augustine came from.

Maria Wentzell is on  ancestry 27 trees( which is yours ? ) noone has a death or marriage for her .
